Through its partnership with WorkSource Partners, a workforce development organization, it increased retention and was able to reduce costs associated with staffing agencies in its Massachusetts sites from $1 million annually to nearly zero.

Management Tips: Choosing a Community Organization as a Partner

Choose a group that:

  • Understands your business, and the prerequisite skills and abilities needed for the jobs you are trying to fill
  • Takes the time to screen the individuals it is placing and develops a clear sense of their interests, abilities, and barriers to employment
  • Is responsive and client-centered toward employers. Preferably, an organization that has one point of contact, is well organized and fully staffed, and has the ability to respond in a timely fashion.
  • Responds when it is notified of problems with the new employee who was just placed at your site
